The letter to Mr. Hershey regarding the Pandemic Flu Response in schools was discussed. Health Officer Ferraioli stated the purpose of the letter was to get the school to submit the attached form.

The form give us the opportunity know who will be at high risk. The vaccine will be delivered to us by mid-October according to the CDC. The amount of vaccine will not be enough to do everyone that we need to do; at least in the first tier of those who are at high risk; such as pregnant women, caregivers of children under 6 months of age, those with underlying medical conditions mainly in children. The population most susceptible is 6 months to 24 years with underlying medical conditions. Between the two communities we should receive about 3,100 doses. Of the 3,100 doses we are looking at 1,200 1,500 will be used primarily for those at the highest risk between the two communities. The rest of the vaccine we will use for that group that is in the 1st tier but after that we will not have any more vaccine to distribute. So what we are looking to do is spread it over the next 2 weeks so that we will have the next dose to come in and we can go on and do the rest of the community. We are looking to provide the shots first in the schools and then when we have the at risk population done and we have enough vaccine we are going to open it up to the entire community. We will be doing the inoculations at the high school on Saturday and Sundays.
