PRESS RELEASE

Kenilworth’s Governing Body is considering a proposal to create a Sewer Utility Authority within the Borough.  The implementation of the utility would change the way sewer fees are billed to the taxpayers.  Currently these fees are included in the tax bills sent to property owners and are based on the assessed value of the property.  The proposal under consideration establishes a sewer utility authority which would bill sewer fees based on water consumption.  This method is thought to be more fair and equitable than the current process.

Richard O’Connor, an engineer who assisted the Township of Clark in the design and implementation of their sewer utility in 2005, has been retained by the Borough to help develop Kenilworth’s proposal.

Mr. O’Connor will present information about the proposal to the public at a Special Meeting being held on November 20, 2007 at 7:00 P.M. at Borough Hall.  The public is encouraged to attend to obtain information about the proposal and ask questions.
